Why this blog exists — notes from a platform engineer who spends most days keeping other people's systems boring and reliable.
I’m Bogdan — I go by ferroman most places online. By day I’m a platform engineer: Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, the pipelines and guardrails that let other teams ship without thinking about the ground underneath them. I’ve been doing some version of this for two decades now, starting as a QA engineer trying to break things, then building them, then keeping them alive at scale.
This blog is where the notes that don’t fit in a PR description or a Slack thread go. Mostly it’ll be the practical stuff — patterns for managing infrastructure as code, the sharp edges of type systems, how release processes actually survive contact with a growing team — written the way I’d explain it to a colleague, not the way it’d read in a vendor’s marketing copy.
Nothing here is going to be groundbreaking. It’s mostly things I wished someone had written down plainly before I had to learn them the slow way.
